My name is Bilbo Baggins and I'm a Hobbit of the Shire. You may know me from my adventures as featured on The Hobbit, or also from my brief but significant role in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The wizard Gandalf suggested to Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves that they hired me to be their burglar in the Quest of Erebor, and we all later fought together in the Battle of the Five Armies.
I was also one of the bearers of the One Ring, and the first to voluntarily give it up, although with some difficulty. I wrote about many of my adventures in a book I called There and Back Again, which would later become what nowadays everybody knows simply The Hobbit.
I live with my second-cousin-once-removed Frodo Baggins, whom I adopted to be my heir after his parents, Drogo and Primula, passed away in an accident some years ago.
I'm the first hobbit to become famous in the world at large, and one of the few to set foot in the Undying Lands.
